messy
Hey guys, so first of all I think it is important to note that i miss each and every one of you so much. Its crazy how often I think of you guys and memories from the summer come flooding back.
I really wanted to share something with you that my youth pastor shared with me. We have a grade 12 bible study at his house every week and its been amazing to learn so much about the bible. We started in Genesis, moved to Exodus, Leviticus and the Law, Judges Kings and Prophets, life of Jesus... and so much more. But one little side note that he shared with us was that Christmas was messy. I know that I have always thought about Christmas as a clean, happy, energetic time of year, but the birth of Jesus was not so. I mean when we really think about it, Jesus' birth was pretty much as hectic and messy as it gets. He was born to a 14 (or so) year old virgin in a stable with animals all around at a time when a census was going on so everything would have been busy and hectic. The song Away in a Manger doesn't describe Jesus' birth very well at all. I know these thoughts all seem rather scattered but I guess this has just made me realize, once again, the true meaning of Christmas. It is so easy to get wrapped up in the giving and receiving of gifts that I often don't remember that I was given the ultimate gift, Jesus Christ. The fact that Jesus was born into a messy situation gives me hope that no matter how "messy" my life gets, Jesus will always be there, he's not scared by the mess.
So anyways that is all, I hope it provoked some thought. I love you all to the moon and back <3
